MPW Gives Members a Top-Flight Experience

Looking for an opportunity to give back to the community, MPW Industrial Cleaning Services invited members of Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus to spend an interactive, hands-on afternoon learning about careers in the aviation industry.  Having recently completed construction of its private hangar at Port Columbus International Airport, MPW staff gave members a personal tour of the facility and its private aircraft and even coordinated a visit from the Port Columbus Fire Department.  Not only did members learn about careers in the industry, MPW’s pilot provided them a crash course on airplane mechanics, giving them an opportunity to build and fly their own model airplanes.  When flying the planes, members made adjustments to their mini aircraft based on the aeronautical engineering knowledge they learned earlier in the day.  “Many of our members have never been to the airport, let alone on an airplane,” says Hilary Blakemore, Chief Development Officer for Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus.  “Exposing kids to these types of opportunities early on has the ability to change the course of their future forever.”
